Why limit juice? I thought juice is healthy.
Health professionals, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, call for limitations on juice. Research shows that juice, along with other caloric beverages like sugary drinks, can lead to satiety and prevent consumption of nutrients from food.
In addition, AB 2084 requires licensed child care providers to serve no more than one serving of 100 percent juice per day. Juice with added sweeteners do not meet California's healthy beverages standards, and is considered a sugary drink.
